Beyonce For Dazed & Confused July 2011

Beyonce scores yet another cover shoot, this time for Dazed & Confused magazine (July 2011). Check out the mag scans below, featuring the singer wearing outfits by Riccardo Tisci, Gareth Pugh, Haider Ackermann, Tom Ford, Stefano Pilati and Marc Jacobs. On the cover Beyonce is wearing Givenchy.

On her famous curves: I think it’s interesting because people think I’m a lot curvier than I am. I’m definitely not like what people’s perception of me is. Every single day of my life somebody says, ‘You’re tiny!’ Every day! I guess everyone else puts more focus on it than I do.

On taking time off: I needed some time to live. I’ve been signed to the same label since I was 12 years old and never had more than a month and a half off since I was 13. I’ve worked so had for so many years and just felt like, ‘Well, why not?’ I learned a lot from the simple things in life, like picking my nephew up from school. Cooking. Going to the museums. Seeing shows. Broadway plays. Going to restaurants. You know, living.

On joining Jay-Z on tour: It was really interesting being on a tour without working. I was able to go and see bands like The Dead Weather, Thom Yorke, Muse, and Rage Against The Machine. Seeing those audiences was a completely different culture for me. I really learned a lot from watching those shows. It’s such a different mindset from my audience. The mosh-pits, the fire, it was all just so soulful. I want people to be that free when they hear my music! I would love people to stage dive at my shows. It would be great. I mean I say that, although if it happens at Glastonbury I’ll probably be like, Oh, um, wait a minute!

On playing Glastonbury: He (Jay-Z) really opened so many doors. I would have never thought about doing Glastonbury if I wasn’t there the night he played. I guess it’s different with pop music as these songs are played at graduations and weddings. It’s definitely not as controversial or as hardcore as hip hop, so maybe people feel more comfortable listening to pop. I am nervous though. But right now, this part of my life is all about embracing change and going to the next level, taking risks and showing my bravery. Not being safe. Not doing the song that everyone else on pop radio sounds like. Basically, what everyone else is doing, unless it’s something that’s natural for me. I want to do something completely different. I feel like I’ve earned that right. Risks excite me.

On not allowing bad press affect her: I didn’t even know I’ve had negative press in the past three months! I didn’t. I think that’s one of the great things about living my life with my family and my friends and the people that I respect and love. I kinda stand away from that madness. There’s always something negative about every celebrity if you’re looking for it.

On moving on from her old material: I don’t want to hear about “Single Ladies” or “Crazy In Love.” I don’t want to hear it. I believe that there are certain things that happen and they happen naturally. I killed off needing Sasha Fierce. I don’t need her anymore. I am Sasha Fierce. It’s interesting because now I’ve done it for so long it’s so easy for me to go into that performance mode. Literally, I go from being a country girl in the dressing room who’s laughing and being silly into, ‘Okay, it’s time to work!’ I don’t have to mentally prepare myself for it. Honestly. I’m much more interested in showing people the sensitive, the passionate, and the compassionate person that I am. More so than Sasha Fierce.

On the loneliness of fame: You want to know something that no one else knows? I get uncomfortable at a club when they play my music. When I go clubbing I end up dancing behind a wall of security guards. That’s not fun, right? It’s pretty sad. I don’t go to clubs very often because of that! Unless it’s an environment where people are not staring at me or trying to grab my hair. I won’t usually go to the dance floor. You know that Jim Carrey film, The Truman Show? That’s how it feels to be a celebrity.

Beyonce For Essence Magazine July 2011

Beyonce covers the July 2011 issue of Essence magazine. Check out the cowgirl-inspired photo shoot and interview excerpts.

On the rodeo: “It was like the biggest family picnic; there was laughter and music everywhere and everyone dressed in their Texas finest. I love watching all the people. We’d eat fried Snickers, funnel cakes, and fried turkey legs; the smell was the best mixture of spicy and sweet.

On her mother: “Tina Knowles was my first example of what a powerful woman is. She shaped my thinking not so much by what she said, but what she did. My mother taught me the principles of hard work, setting my own goals and visualizing my future.

On visiting the pyramids: “Egypt was the best. When I visited the pyramids, I had an experience I’ll never forget:I started singing “Ava Maria” inside the pyramid. The depth of the tomb was incredible. I’ve never heard acoustics so clear. My voice sounded so pure. It was inconceivable. I could have stayed in there forever.

On taking a break: “After the tour ended in Trinidad in late February, at last I focused on taking some time off. I had talked about taking a vacation before, but always ended up in the studio after two weeks. This time, though, I was serious. I was going to give myself a year to do all the things I never get to do. Simple things like play with my nephew, pick him up from school, visit museums, go to concerts, see some Broadway shows, learn to cook a meal and spend time with my husband.

Emma Stone For ELLE Magazine July 2011

Emma Stone is ELLE's cover girl for the July 2011 issue, US edition. Check out the photos and interview excerpts below:

Versace dress and Lanvin necklace

On having braces and wearing glasses while growing up: “And I sucked my thumb until I was 11, so I had this expander in. I was a good-looking kid. I never felt, like, dorky. I was just like, ‘Yup, these are my braces. I’ve had them forever."

On not being recognized as easily in public with her new look: “I mean, I haven’t been around very long. I can’t expect everyone to have seen The House Bunny. Oh God. I am having such waves of internal embarrassment, which now I’m admitting on a tape recorder. This is so one of the things I should keep in my head.”

On her obsession with Farmville: “I got to level 42, and I wasn’t doing anything else anymore, so I had to stop.”

On taking up baking in part to control her nervous energy: “It’s very controlled. You know, if you put in the same amount of whatever is in the recipe, it will come out all right."

On her career: “It’s so funny how different life could have been. I went to so many auditions. I remember my audition for Heroes. I went in right after Hayden Panettiere. Now here we are in this rented house. It feels like it just happened.”

On wanting to be believable in her roles: “I like to look like a person. It drives me crazy when you see women in movies playing teachers, and they have biceps. It totally takes me out of the movie. I start thinking, Wow, that actress playing this part really looks great!”

On developing as a person and as an actress : “I was sitting in a restaurant like this. And I’m working on this script. To my right, a guy was like, ‘I’m producing this thing’…and I was like, You can’t play a regular person and live only in circumstances where people are only talking about movies. The most important part of my job is feeling like I understand as much as I can about humans and human behavior.”

On how her career has grown: “These past two years, I’ve stopped having to remind myself to be present, which has been the greatest gift. Because I know it’s so fleeting. I’ll kick my ass later on if I don’t enjoy it right now. But it does make you realize that so much of the joy of it is the journey. The struggle is such a lovely part of it.”

Robbie Williams For Esquire UK July 2011

Robbie Williams covers Esquire UK July 2011. I'll update with more photos when they become available, but in the meantime, check out the cover below, interview excerpts and some of the outtakes from the photo shoot.

On if he cheats on his wife, Ayda: "Actually, no, because I don't want to break Ayda's heart. That's the last thing I want to do. I met Ayda, I fell in love, that's what happened. But I would be way more tempted because at the end of the day I am a man, with the stuff that makes you a man - go forth and multiply. And multiply with absolutely everyone."

On if he wants kids: "I get a lot of time off and I love fannying about. Play Football Manager, write songs, look on the internet for conspiracy theories, hang out, live in the sun. It's a wonderful life of getting up when I want, going to sleep when I want. A kid will f**k that up."

On his wedding to Ayda: It was a very simple affair. Just about 40 people, a good group of friends. Just people that dig me and Ayda. No best man, no bridesmaids, no rehearsal, no going round to her dad to ask if it was OK. She got to dress up in a princess dress and look amazing. And I got to tell her I was going to look after her. She loves me because I'm me. I'm quite charming, easy going, good company, loveable. We're a team. And you think differently as a team."
