Movies 2011: David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - Trailer

The official trailer to David Fincher's upcoming movie, his version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has finally hit the internet.

Plot : "Based on Stieg Larsson's posthumously published crime thriller trilogy, "The Millennium Series." The book describes the mystery surrounding the long-unsolved disappearance of an heiress. A journalist recently dinged by a libel case and a young female hacker try to resolve it, stirring up bundles of personal and industrial corruption along the way."

Cast: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson.

The film hits U.S. theaters on December 21, 2011.

Movies 2011: I Don't Know How She Does It Starring Sarah Jessica Parker - Trailer

I Don't Know How She Does It is an upcoming romantic comedy, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, Christina Hendricks, Seth Meyers.

"A comedy centered on the life of Kate Reddy (Sarah Jessica Parker), a finance executive who is the breadwinner for her husband and two kids. Her life gets thrown off balance when she gets a promotion and finds herself juggling her career and family life." 

The film, based on Allison Pearson’s bestseller, hits U.S. theaters in September.

Remember Happy Feet? The animated film is back: Happy Feet Two (in 3D) features the voices of Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, Pink (who replaces the late Brittany Murphy), Brad Pitt, Sofia Vergara, Matt Damon, among others.

Clooney plays a father left to care for his two daughters when his wife is hospitalized in a boating accident. Horrible Bosses is an upcoming comedy with a star-studded cast, including Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Donald Sutherland.

"Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness." The movie opens in the U.S. on July 8, 2011.

Movies 2011: Drive Starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan

Drive stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Christina Hendricks and it will premiere at this month's Cannes Film Festival.

Gosling plays a "Hollywood stunt performer who works as a robbery getaway driver by night and discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong." The movie hits U.S. theaters on September 23rd.

Movies 2011: Bad Teacher starring Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake - trailer

Cameron Diaz stars in the upcoming comedy Bad Teacher, alongside her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel.

Bad Teacher is "centered around a foul-mouthed, junior high teacher who, after being dumped by her sugar daddy, begins to woo a colleague -- a move that pits her against a well-loved teacher."

Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess star in One Day, the film adaptation of the eponymous novel by David Nicholls (2009). Each chapter covers the lives of two protagonists on 15 July, for twenty years.

"After spending the night together on the night of their college graduation Dexter and Emma are revisited each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives. They are sometimes together, sometimes not, on that day."

Jesse Eisenberg robbing a bank? Yep. He co-stars with Aziz Ansari and Danny McBride in the new comedy 30 Minutes or Less, from director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland).

"Two fledgling criminals kidnap a pizza delivery driver and force him to rob a bank within 30 minutes."

The Beaver is the new movie directed by Jodie Foster in which she co-stars with Mel Gibson and Jennifer Lawrence. Even if Gibson's career and personal life are a complete mess and the world pretty much dislikes or despises him right now, early reviews for this movie sound promising.

Synopsis: Plagued by his own demons, Walter Black was once a successful toy executive and family man who now suffers from depression.  No matter what he tries, Walter can’t seem to get himself back on track…until a beaver hand puppet enters his life.

Movies 2011: Bridesmaids - is this the women's version of 'The Hangover'?

In times where good comedies are hard to find, a trailer that looks promising gets us all excited, especially when the movie has been getting positive buzz. Bridesmaids is an upcoming comedy, produced by Judd Apatow and directed by 'Freaks and Geeks' creator Paul Feig. The cast includes Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph (both of 'Saturday Night Live' fame), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Ellie Kemper (The Office), Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy (Gilmore Girls).

Synopsis:

Picked as her best friend's maid of honor, unhappy and broke Annie (Kristen Wiig) looks to bluff her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals with an oddball group of bridesmaids. Movies 2011: Emma Stone stars in 'The Help', film adaptation of N. Y. Times best-selling novel - trailer

Based on one of the most talked about books in years, The Help stars Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard and Octavia Spencer and tells the story of "three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times."

The Help is the film adaptation of  Kathryn Stockett‘s best-selling novel of the same name. It took her 5 years to complete the book and she was rejected about 45 times before a literary agent picked her up. Since then, The Help has been published in 35 countries and it is one of New York Times' bestsellers. It also spent over a year on the Los Angeles Times bestseller list at #1.

Synopsis:

"Set in Mississippi during the late 1960s, 'The Help' follows Eugenia 'Skeeter' Phelan (Emma Stone) as she returns from college and lands a job writing a column on cleaning in her local paper. Not knowing anything about cleaning, Miss Skeeter must rely on her friend and maid, Aibileen (Viola Davis). After Aibileen's friend Minny (Octavia Spencer) agrees to help, this collaboration evolves into a full-blown book project with Skeeter attempting to interview the help of her friends and neighbors to tell their side of the story."

Movies 2011: Henry's Crime starring Keanu Reeves and Vera Farmiga

Henry's Crime stars Keanu Reeves, the good guy who went to prison for a crime he didn't commit. Once he's out, he targets the very bank he was sent away for robbing. One of the film's tag lines is: "If you've done the time, do the crime", so you get the idea. He recruits cellmate Max (James Caan) to help him along with the plan. In the meantime, he meets Julie, played by Vera Farmiga.

Henry's Crime is playing in US theaters now. No word on a Romanian release just yet.

Movies 2011: The Conspirator, directed by Robert Redford, starring Robin Wright, James McAvoy

The Conspirator is the new movie directed by Robert Redford, featuring a stellar cast: Robin Wright, James McAvoy, Evan Rachel Wood, Tom Wilkinson, Kevin Kline, Alexis Bledel.

Synopsis: In the wake of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, seven men and one woman are arrested and charged with conspiring to kill the President, Vice President, and Secretary of State. The lone woman charged, Mary Surratt (Robin Wright), owns a boarding house where John Wilkes Booth, and others met and planned the simultaneous attacks. Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer, Frederick Aiken (James McAvoy), a 28-year-old Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt before a military tribunal. Aiken realizes his client may be innocent and that she is being used as bait and hostage in order to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt, her own son, John. As the nation turns against her, Surratt is forced to rely on Aiken to uncover the truth and save her life.

The Conspirator is in US theaters now.

Movies 2011: Hanna starring Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, Eric Bana

Hanna stars young actress Saoirse (pronounced 'seer-shah') Ronan as "a 16-year-old who was raised by her father to be the perfect assassin. She is dispatched on a mission across Europe, tracked by a ruthless intelligence agent and her operatives."

Saoirse Ronan was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in Atonement and has been praised for her roles in The Way Back earlier this year and The Lovely Bones in 2009.

Film critic Richard Roeper describes Hanna as a "kinetic, vibrant, sometimes a completely insane adventure; one of the best times you’ll have at the movies this year."

Hanna's original soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers will blow your mind.

Cowboys & Aliens, directed by Jon Favreau, is one of the most-anticipated summer blockbusters. Starring Olivia Wilde, Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, the movie will hit US theaters July 29th, 2011.

Synopsis: A spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. A posse of cowboys are all that stand in their way.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is the upcoming movie from the same directors who brought us I Love You Phillip Morris and it stars Mr. Hotness a.k.a Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Steve Carell, Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon.

Movies 2011: The Hangover Part 2

Remember The Hangover? The Wolfpack is back. Bradley Cooper, Zack Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Ed Helms return for the sequel, The Hangover Part 2, to be released this summer. This time they travel to Bangkok, Thailand for Stu's wedding (Ed Helms' character). Featuring a cameo appearance by Liam Neeson, the film is one of the most-anticipated comedies of 2011.

Movies 2011: Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris + new poster for The Tree of Life

Woody Allen's new movie, called Midnight in Paris, will premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival on May 11th. The breezy romantic comedy is about "a family traveling to the French capital for business. The party includes a young engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a life different from their own is better."

The movie stars Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Michael Sheen, Adrien Brody and Carla Bruni. Check out the trailer below (and scroll down for a new Tree of Life movie poster).

On to another upcoming movie that will also be featured at the Cannes Film Festival: The Tree of Life starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn is one of the most-anticipated movies of 2011 and it finally gets a new poster that you can see below. (Read more about the movie and watch trailer here.) The Tree of Life will premiere in the UK on May 4th (before Cannes) and it will open in the US at the end of May.
